Waste oils, oily water, oil sludge from lagoons and spent emulsions are posing disposal problems for industry. The fact that waste oil can be so much more than waste is demonstrated by the treatment with decanter centrifuges and separators from GEA Westfalia Separator.
With a decanter centrifuge, contaminants can be separated from the waste oil in the first treatment stage. According to requirements, a self-cleaning separator can be installed in a downstream second stage which efficiently separates solid fines and water from the waste oil. Due to the high separation efficiency, an oil is separated which no longer has to be disposed of at high cost but which rather can be profitably resold.
